Appearance...

Dear Geeky Guy,

When you think of the topic 'appearance', you're probably thinking that a pretty girl would want you to change everything about yourself in order to be acceptable to her. Fortunately, that's not true. Don't get me wrong - pretty girls DO care about your appearance, but in ways that might not be what you expect. Here are some simple things you can do that will not only make you more appealing to pretty girls, but you'll probably have a better chance of getting a good job, making more friends, and feeling good in your own skin:

  1. Be clean - don't take this the wrong way, but if you have dirty hair, dirty clothes, a sloppy beard, or body odor... it makes us pretty girls a little uncomfortable. You see, we make an effort to look good in order to impress you, and we'd like it if you would return the favor a bit. Besides, being clean is not really too much to ask.
  2. Wear some clothes that fit you - you don't have to have skin tight Abercrombie and Fitch going on, we don't care if you wear your pwn t-shirt or your standard polo, but don't wear a shirt that's an XL is you should really be in a medium. It just looks sloppy, and believe it or not, girls look at a guy's body too... more on that later. Likewise, if you have a 32 waist, don't wear 38 pleated khakis with a belt. Try on some 32 or even 34 FLAT FRONT pants, trust me, you'll like the change.
  3. If you're going to dress up and wear a suit or shirt and tie - don't wear tennis shoes. Just don't. Get some $20 dress shoes from Payless or Target if that's all you can afford, and if you can afford more, try some Kenneth Cole or Steve Madden shoes. Future employers will like this too. Small price to pay to complete your look.
  4. Outerwear - we know you love the big black trenchcoat - I'm not saying give it up completely, but if you're taking us out, maybe try a jacket that is a little more your size and a little more our style. Trenchcoats are a little forboding, and it's much easier to sidle up next to a guy in a warm fleece jacket or a well fitting hoodie. It looks cuter in pics too, and pretty girls like to be in pics. You'll like being in pics with pretty girls.

These are all quick and easy changes to make that won't set you back much, and you can still retain your own style. If you're not sure, just try it out, I guarantee the pretty girls will notice - but no change works as well on a pretty girl as a smile - and smiles are free.

Love,

The Pretty Girl

From the pretty girl to the geeky guy...

I've decided to start a new blog series called 'From the pretty girl to the geeky guy'. I think geeky guys are the best kind around, I did marry one after all, and I'm sure many geeky guys out there want to know how to get the pretty girl. Let me tell you, it is possible.

Dear geeky guy,

I saw you today when I was waiting in line. You were waiting with your younger brother on a bench while your sister was in front of me in the line. You did something funny, and I laughed. Here is where you made your classic geeky guy mistake - you did it again. Now geeky guy, I know that you come from a world where repeating successful discoveries elicits duplicate results, but in the case of the pretty girl, it does not. Pretty girls like geeky guys who don't try to hard, they like it when you be yourself. If they can see you're like a programmed machine, they lose interest. If you did something that made the pretty girl smile, be proud and happy with yourself, and then do something different. It may not be as funny, but the pretty girls don't need to be constantly entertained to like you, pretty girls are used to being the entertaining ones. Now that you've caught her eye, let her entertain you a bit, and show her that you are watching and listening to her - she likes it when you listen.

Until next time,

The pretty girl
